The Bowline Chair was developed using a form study process that defined the subjects shape before knowing the product that was being designed. After weeks of form study iteration using paper and wire a chair shape was created and further developed. The process used to create the Bowline chair was a exciting way to explore form though physical models.

R&R is a bottle opener made from used railroad spikes. After railroad maintenance fixes a section of track the spikes that once held the old rail section in place left lying along the side of the new track. This product utilizes this wasted material and brings a rugged aesthetic to a home.

The railroad spikes used to make this product were found alongside tracks in Bellingham, Washington. After only a few years lying exposed to the environment the spikes had become pitted due to the oxidization process. Because the corrosion such a large part of each spikes past it was not meant to cover up all of the steel’s flaws therefore creating unique textures on each bottle opener.

Mesa is a school desk designed to allow students the ability to improve their work on their own which relieves stress on a teacher. While most of a middle school teacher's effort is placed on controlling students Mesa would be a way for students to have quick access to spell check, grammar rules, dictionary, encyclopedia, thesauruses and simple mathematical help. As students write on their paper a IR scanner built into the desk's surface scans their work as they go. After selecting a portion of text Mesa will help students find errors in their work and help them correct their own work.
